

Gina M.Fortunato, Esq.
Gina Fortunato obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Rutgers University - New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1989. In 1993, she obtained a Juris Doctorate degree from Hofstra University School of Law, where she was a member of the Law Review. While at Hofstra, Gina interned for the Honorable George C. Pratt, a federal appellate judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.Gina was admitted to practice law in the states of New York and New Jersey in 1994. Additionally, she was admitted to practice law before several federal courts in 1994, including the United States Districts Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the District of New Jersey.
Prior to joining Speyer & Perlberg, LLP, Gina obtained legal experience in the fields of environmental insurance litigation, class action toxic tort litigation, reinsurance law and excess insurance law while an associate at law firms in Manhattan and Garden City, New York.
In 1996, Gina joined Speyer & Perlberg, LLP. Since that time, her concentration has been in the areas of property/casualty defense litigation, insurance fraud investigations, the prosecution of subrogation lawsuits on behalf of insurance companies, commercial litigation, and personal injury litigation. The lawsuits that Gina handles involve matters such as building collapses, fires, arson, floods, fraud, conversion, breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, civil racketeering (RICO), defamation, negligence, and products liability. Gina has handled complex, multi-million dollar and multiple party lawsuits, has written numerous legal briefs, including motions, trial briefs, and appellate briefs, has conducted numerous depositions and Examinations Under Oath, and has appeared before the trial courts and appellate courts for conferences, oral argument, and trials. Gina has successfully defended first-party insurance claims at trial by proving that the insureds were not entitled to insurance coverage due to fraud, has obtained dismissals before trial of several lawsuits, and has amicably resolved other matters before trial.
In addition to practicing law in the state and federal courts of New York, Gina also handles and oversees the firm's New Jersey practice.
Gina has represented numerous parties at mediations, arbitrations, and trials. In 2009, Gina was accepted by the Supreme Court of New York, Suffolk County (Commercial Division) to its training program to become a member of its first panel of court-appointed mediators for commercial disputes.
Gina is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association.
