David L. Singer obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in History from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2000. He received a Juris Doctorate from Touro Law School in 2007.

David was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 2008. He also is admitted to practice law in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and the Southern Districts of New York.

David's areas of practice include:
  • Property/casualty defense litigation (defending companies alleged to have caused property/casualty losses due to negligence);
  • Insurance fraud investigations;
  • the prosecution of subrogation lawsuits;
  • insurance defense litigation (defending insurers that have been sued for breach of contract and bad faith, including building collapse, fire, arson, and flood cases);
  • commercial litigation on behalf of companies (in cases involving matters such as fraud, breach of contract, and corporate disputes)
David is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Suffolk County Bar Association.
Representative Recent Cases:

First Party:
  • Defense of $7 million dollar action for breach of an insurance contract arising from the insurer's denial of a claim for alleged hail damage to numerous roofs;
  • Defense of $1.5 million dollar action for breach of contract against insurer where loss involved arson fire and other suspicious activity;
  • Defense of $1.9 million dollar action for breach of contract against insurer where insured seeks additional payment for alleged building damage arising from steam pipe explosion.
  • Took the Examination Under Oath of an insured making claims involving the mysterious disappearance of jewelry and other valuable items and prepared coverage opinions for clients' consideration.
Third Party:
  • Defense of general contractor whose work was alleged to have caused damage to a Park Avenue penthouse
Subrogation:
  • Action for negligence and breach of contract against contractors whose improper work caused a fire that destroyed the roof of event space in Manhattan;
  • Action for negligence against owner of garage whose business activities caused fire damaging insured's property;
  • Action for negligence against utilities owner for failure to maintain service to business resulting in pipe freeze.
Commercial Cases:
  • Defense of a wholesale meat distribution company in action by former employee for defamation and back pay;
  • Prosecution of claims on behalf of business owner against former attorneys for overbilling and other questionable practices during representation;
  • Defense of non-for profit corporation, its board and officers and directors against suits alleging misuse of funds and wrongful exclusion of prospective member.
